Portia de Rossi has officially taken Ellen Degenere’s last name this Thursday. “I just got some amazing news,” Ellen tweeted yesterday. “The court has granted Portia’s name change. She’s now officially Portia Winfrey.”
She was kidding, of course. An LA County Superior Court judge granted de Rossi’s name-change petition yesterday. She will now be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.
“Lee” is the Australian actress’s middle name (she was born Amanda Lee Rogers), though the addition of “James” remains unclear.
Regardless, Portia couldn’t be happier. “I am thrilled to legally adopt my wife’s name,” she says, whose memoir, “Unbearable Lightness,” hits bookstores in November. “I will continue to use Portia de Rossi for professional purposes.”
